Euro comand has a button to activate an optional TV Tuner which will display on the Comand screen untill you drive, then it goes dark, instead of our Satellite Radio Button. In Europe there is an option for a rear TV screen mounted to the European style (Butterfly Door Top) console rear, so that rear seat passengers can watch TV or a DVD movie which the European Comands also play.
There is also a European option for a remote control (like a TV remote) that allows rear seat passengers to switch channels, make phone calls & other things.
There are other things that are different as far as the labels on button using different words, and the phone symbols on the bottom buttons are in white, not color, and use different icons. Check out http://www.mbenznl.com/ for a whole discussion.

One of the main reason the rear passenger can access the controls is in many other parts of the world, the owner is seated in the rear and has a driver in the front. Don't forget that MB can be really expensive( two to three times the price in US ) in many countries that tax the hell out of the car!

That's a great question, and great answer, I did not know that. I believe it where it comes down to buying an MBZ in other parts of the world where it is, indeed expensive.
