BMW E60 M5 - '08
My deal with the devil...
Well, I did it....went in to the BMW dealer and placed a deposit for a loaded 540i Sports with an expected delivery in July. After weeks of consideration against the E500 and ML63 I decided that the 540i Sports offers the package which I am looking for at this stage of my life. It was strange as I got back into my car after I made the deal...I was asking my self for a brief moment "what have I done??!!". 
Anyway, the deal is done and the deposit paid.
I now have to prepare my lovely E320 for sale in the next 3 months. The last 2.5 yrs that I've had with this car has been fantastic. I'm glad to state that I'm exiting the MB brand for now as a 99% satisfied customer (1% dissatisfied with the whistling a/c vent). Who knows, maybe in 3 or 4 years time I'll come back to MB.
Thanks to all who have helped me with various queries about the W211 over the last few years. Wishing you all many safe and pleasurable driving

best of luck. is 540 same as 550 in us? i had a 2001 540, a 2002 M3 and still have an X5 4.4. i think bmw builds good cars and would probably still be a bmw fan were it not for the bmw service available in my area. in my view bmw and mercedes are comparable in quality. bmws with the sport option typically handle better than mercedes in my view but in service and styling (interior and exterior) mercedes clearly gets the nod.
