Service C at 5,300 Miles?

My FSS+ is showing a need for service C in a few days. I looked at items to see what it thinks it needs. 3, 9, 12, and 13.

3 Every 30,000 miles or 2 years
Replace combination filter

It seems a little early for this time or mileage wise.

9 Every 2 years
Check bodywork for paint damage
Check chassis and load-bearing body components
Replace brake fluid, check pressure of reservoir

Again it is early for this.

12 Due when displayed
Engine oil and filter change

I can believe this based on time.

13 Due when displayed
Check fluid levels, correct/repair if necessary
• Brake system
• Power steering
• Windshield washer system
Check safety catch and hinges on engine hood
Check auxiliary battery condition
Function check
• Warning/indicator lamps, illumination and interior lighting
• Windshield wipers, washer system, headlamp cleaning system
Inspect tires
Check thickness of front brake pads
Check main battery

Is this triggered by time or when a problem is suspected?

Has anyone else had these services appear this early? The car wasn't even built two years ago.

My car turned to Service "C" before 5,000 miles. I personally paid for an oil change at 5k and by 10K it already called for break fluid flush and cabin filter change. My mechanic said that everything looked great in the car, but I never complain when MB changes things on my car and it is still Free since I have a 2004. Also, after I had them perform the oil change and service C at about 10500 miles, the service indicator immediately said that my next service due was a service “G.” I asked about this and the head mechanic said that is correct for my car, but others say one letter more of less depending on your driving habits. I know that if you get a + next to the letter that means that you brake pads have passed the 50% wear level. I am almost at 17,000 miles and I still have 85% of my pads in the rear and about 90% in the front, so I think that I will get at least 40K out of these brakes (like I usually do anyaway).

I think that these service things show up by time or mileage. If you actually had a problem with the car you would get a RED or YELLOW message in your MFD.

Evaluates engine temperature, oil level, vehicle speed, engine speed, brake wear, distance driven and the time elapsed since your last service. The interval between services depends on your driving habits.

I took the car to the dealer for service. The SA said it was kind of early since the car was built less than two years ago. They reset the service indicator to delay it for a few months.
