Step by step instructions for do-it-yourself repairs
Sneaky ECU reset from the E55 forum
Anyway proceeded to do some launches and I can really tell a difference in shifts. Someone said it best....feels like the car had a tune up or something.
I COMMAND all of you to try this (well if you are not happy with your current setup). I just know now my car set me up wimpy due to long highway miles after driving back from Klee. Enjoy!!!
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.
I tried this on my E320 and it worked, it's like I got a tune up, much better response from the transmission now. Try it out and see what you think!

Thank you for point this out!
We have had our E240 since 2003, its only been used for city and short distance driving (usually around 50km/h). Its has only run 1900km in 3 years. However, I always have the feeling that the transmission doesnt run smooth and the engine is very "tight".. The fuel consumption is much higher than the C240.. I think this reset will help but I have a few questions..
Can someone please tell me if I will get any confirmation messages on the display after you have released the gas pedal? Do I get any dialog on the display at all?
does this reset thing work on my W203 C240?
Thanks,
Mike

2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
does it mean all the way down to the kickdown position?
thanks
Mike
I did notice the lunging near a dead stop disappeared after the reset. We'll see how long this will last though.
1. Insert/remove
2. "Accessory" position
3. Run
4. Start
After pressing and holding the pedal, is "off" position 2 or position 1? The engine, if running, shuts down in position 2, but accessory power remains "on."
1. Insert/remove
2. "Accessory" position
3. Run
4. Start
1. Turn the ignition key to the on position (position 3).
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (position 1 -don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal. - make sure to keep the gas pedal to the floor while turning the key to "off", release the pedal after the key has been turned to "off"
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset
Good reading on the E55 forum for this topic, those guys have 75 posts on this thread. I have reset twice, first time was great and the second time a few days later not so impressive....probably because I did it on my way home before leaving work and all of the traffic got my shifting points in the wrong positions. Time to reset again!

You might wanna list your "E" on your sig.

I have "Check Engine" light on, and recently had my oil changed and noticed there's some oil under the transmission, seems like it is leaking. Does anyone know what I need to do or how much it'll cost to fix this problem? Thanks!
