Did you already get it replaced? How is your vehicle running now?

I would have the problem when I was braking to a stop. You could feel the vehicle downshifting. The car would jerk forward really bad.

It sucks that there is problems like this with the transmission. I may just purchase an extended warranty because of problems like this!

Guys, PM your email address and I'll forward a copy of this DTB so you can better familiarize yourself with the diagnostic procedure involved. Depending on the steps taken already you may, or may not be entitled to a new transmission. At the very least you will have a MBUSA document to better support your claim to the area MBUSA SPOM who is responsible for making the final decision.

update

The service consultant called and said they installed the control unit, but a road test confirmed that the problem was not fixed. Then they sampled the trans fluid and found a low % of ethyln glycol in the trans. apparently something in the radiator failed, allowing coolant to mix with trans fluid, which is also cooled in the radiator. they recommend replacing the radiator, followed by 3x flushing of both coolant system and transmission. They stated that since the problem was caught very early there should be no long-term problem with the trans.

All 2003 211 models with either 5G or 7G transmission -- Humming/buzzing noises or noticeable harsh engagement during acceleration between engine speeds of 1200-2500 rpm caused by incomplete adaptation of the torque converter, ECU software or glycol contamination of the automatic transmission fluid. Not intermittent and produced at all times.

replacing trans.

service consultant called and said they decided to replace the transmission. I feel this is probably the right thing for Mercedes to do. I'm glad they are taking care of this problem properly.

Glad to hear that Mercedes is going to finally replace your transmission!

I think Mercedes is aware of this problem with the 7G transmission, but sometimes tries to get out of replacing it...
