2007 E550 Preview in August Car & Driver
The 2007 E550 was previewed in August Car & Driver. A couple of things I found interesting were:
Upshifts are "fast and smooth" even at full throttle and "barely drop engine revs" with the 7-speed tranny.
"At slower speeds the E550 feels much like the E500", but the "extra punch" can be felt at "triple digits speeds."
"We did notice more squat under acceleration than we remember in the E500. The optional Sport package with 18-inch wheels did little to dissuade the E550's nose from jerking upward under hard acceleration."
They liked the new non-SBC braking system (calling it "satisfying" and "solid, predictable and easily modulated hydraulic braking").
And, they noted the "faster steering ratio that is livelier and provides purer feel when cornering."
I hope this carries over to the rest of the line as well.
