The incessant Keyless Go beeping

has apparently been eliminated for the MY07 211. I think now it will either beep just once or not at all. The visual warning is still there which is not really an issue. Probably will be the same for the MY07 CLS.

what beeping are you talking about? If you're talking about the key with you inside the car, it annoying when you have the door open.

To stop the beeping, hit the "up/scroll" arrow on the left side of your steering wheel. That beeping is so annoying, I just reach for the up arrow when I first get in or open the door to get out.

Thanks. I'll try it. The beeping is definitely very annoying.

The beeping can be turned off through the Star Diag system. Steve turned mine off.

Kev04C320, can you find out exactly how they turn it off via Star Diagnostic? My dealership keeps telling me it can't be done. Either they don't know how or just won't do it for "legal" reasons. I ask about this every time I'm there. I've posted about the beeping numerous times before and would be a very happy camper if I could get it to stop.

Boy, I'd like to know too. Just about to go in for my regular service and it would be nice if I could get this taken care of. I've heard the "legal reasons" excuse on the board before, but I can't think of any liability they'd be picking up for disabling it. Someone's going to sue them because they left the key in the car? Good luck with that.

Thanks for the scroll up tip. I tried it and it does stop the beeping when you open the door.

I had always thought that the "Take the Key" beeping that was a programming conflict, that was to big a pain in the *** for them to bother to correct... after all It beeps after you remove the key from the ignition, or after you kill the engine swith the keyless go button, so how can you forget to take the key when its either already in your hand or in your pocket? And why would you be worrying about forgetting the key when you just opened the door to get in & drive away???!

It really should be eliminated or changed to beep if you shut the car off & leave the sun roof open. (My aftermarket Webasto sunroof in my Cadillac would beep once if the sunroof was left open after you shut the car off, but would remain open if you pressed the open button within 3 seconds of the beep. Otherwise it would auto close all the way if its travel was unobstructed... Now THAT's clever, usefull engineering!)

I just got back from a demo drive in a 07' E350 with Keyless Go and we couldn't get the car to beep at any point in time. Go figure.

It's the button on the instrument cluster that you use to dim the instrument lights you have to press.. That's how I shut mine up every time....

The steering wheel button works too. I can't seem to mute the beep unless it's beeped once or twice. I wish pushing the button would silence it altogether. I'm going in for service Wednesday. I'll see what they say.

Yes, the MY07 will have either no beeping or a single beep. The message will still appear in the instrument cluster regarding the key.
