Carbon Steering Wheel fit & install or do I have a new piece of art?
Just bought a Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel for my W211 from another Member who graciously gave me a good price and got it in my hands (so to speak) almost immediately. Not wanting to admire it on my office wall, and actually use it, I have questions:
1. Any way to find out if it will actually fit my car (2005 W211) before trying to have it installed? On the inside there are a series of I think model #s
(A 203 460 10 03). And from my extremely untrained eye, the wheel looks EXACTLY like the current wheel on my car, 4 spokes, same size, etc.
I guess what I'm asking is there any way to save myself the embarrassment of stupidly going to my dealer and having them say "what were you thinking buying it if you didn't know for sure?" and it won't fit.
2. Anyone else done a DIY Steering Wheel install on a W211 and if so how do you disable the airbag or is it just not worth it to try it yourself? I realize these things don't just pop on like a tire but can it be done?
But it does look so cool... Even on my office wall.

That part # is for a C class, W203. I changed my wheel myself with the information from this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/78802-wood-leather-wheel.html
It wasn't fun, but it is fairly easy. You must have a long T27 in order to get in behind the wheel, that was the challenge. Breaking the center nut also took some work. I took it to a friends shop but his mechanic didn't have a long enough T27 so I bought one myself and did it at home. I think I may have a pic on my home computer if you need it.
