EGR replaced

My 05 CDI has been jerking/hesitating/pulsing while driving like mad. Had in the shop 2X for this problem. Car went int a no-shift no-power mode last weekend. Next day things were better but still pulsing.

dealer put a new EGR in today. Only drove a short while hope this fixes the problem? Something still tells me there may still be a tranny issue.

Dealer wacked MB almost $500 for the work & parts

Any comments

Just curious how many miles do you have on the car?

I can't believe i'm going to say this but... use the search button. It has helped "uncover" mnay issues I have had with my car and provide a helpful resource. Now for my experience w/ my 05 CDI, it defintely was the EGR and it seemed to have solved the problem. As for tranny issues, it seems to work better in S mode. I still have the some hard downshifts from 2nd-1st but I've been told by my SA that it is adapative learning by the transmission. After
39K, hopefully all of the "bugs" have been worked out and I absolutely love the car.
Best
Jay

Egr

I have 63000 on my 05 CDI. Egr failures seem to be a common issue on a lot of the latest diesels across manufacturers. On a duramax truck forum this is discussed quite a bit. Interestingly, one company has developed an EGR blocker plate for the trucks to prevent "sooting" of the engine. It keeps the oil cleaner and all the engine intake passages.

finally someone with more miles than me, I have 56 on my '05 cdi. The Egr went at about 20k miles. No facts but I think it was a bad load of fuel that did it in, so watch where you fuel up.

Thanks for the post. Can you be more specific about what ERG component needed replacement?
