Trunk Lid Valet Lock

Now that the trunk lid Valet lock has been restored in W211's, can someone tell me if it works like it did in the 2003's or have they gone to putting a switch in the glovebox, or?

Also, does anyone know what the trunk lid Valet lock kit entails?

TIA,
Bud

I hadn't heard of the valet lock being restored, unless you are talking about the retrofit available from the dealership for (I believe) $400. Are you saying the new 2007s have the valet lock installed at the factory?

The valet lock feature was restored during MY06. I am not sure of the exact month. All MY07 211s have the valet trunk lock and it is identicle to the "old" system which includes the lock cylinder which locks in the 90 degree position.

Thanks for the Info. I asked my SA about the kit and he said he'd never heard of it. What's confusing is if all that has been done is restore the lock cylinder to the one used in other countries, why is there so much labor to install the kit?

If I could get my hands on the lock I wouldn't care if it had a set of keys that didn't work with the doors/glove box.

I've had to have my trunk lid replaced because of hail damage and that would have been a good time to change the lock.

silberrosa, that is good to hear. I am glad M-B is re-contenting some of the features that they de-contented the last couple of years.
