MB Manhattan had them coming off the truck around 12 noon. Salesman said all were spoken for, and that they were scrambling to get one to leave on the floor.

He had no brochures and I am still pissed...

It was quite a sight at the dealership, though. To see the drivers rod them the wrong-way up 41st St....

I hope it wasn't silver, 'cuz you should have seen the guy tear up the street!

We just received 15 of them today and there will be 10 more coming in later this evening. We will start selling them tomorrow, have to get the car into PDI and detail first. It sucks that MBCC is the only bank who has residuals on the E

Nope, not silver. It will be platinum blue. The problem that I have with it though is that on the previous MB site (before the new 320+500 were put up), the color was completely different from what they are showing now, so I'm hoping I get what I originally ordered.

See my post elsewhere re errors on the updated MBUSA site.

I too have a Platinum Blue on order. Web site now shows incorrect color - definately not what is shown in any brochure or other web site. I've e-mailed them at the web site to inquire/correct but haven't heard back yet.

I received a call from my dealer today and the salesperson informed me that my car should be here by the end of the week or possibly early next week. He stated that their first batch arrived here this morning, and more are scheduled to arrive during the week.

As far as the Navigation, he stated that I could pay for it now, (Approx. $2100.00) and so when it arrives in 3 to 6 months from now, they'll install it without charging extra. He mentioned that if I opt to get it later it may run around $4000.00

Just a little FYI!!!

Hope your salesman is not a former Enron exec.

Most other luxury car mfrs. charge around $2,000.- for a DVD-based navi system.
Retro-fitting is always a risky undertaking, because of possible collateral damage.

i agree. i had a custom sound system put in a few years back. sounded great, but i was eternally pissed every time i looked at it because there was a noticable scratch on the wood next to the head unit. the guys who put it in were top notch but these things just happen.

On the navigation "retro fit", I understand that the cars are coming "pre-wired" for the later installation of the navigation system.

Merriam-Webster's definition of "retrofit":

"to install (new or modified parts or equipment) in something previously manufactured or constructed."

The E is pre-wired for sure, however that has nothing to do with the high risk of collateral damage during retrofitting.

I don't think I would go the retro fit route either. I was undecided about the nav system but since it was delayed several months it made the decision easy for me. I didn't want to wait. But I was leaning toward skipping it anyway. Unless you sell real estate or have another type of job that takes you to many unknown addresses, the nav for me comes down to a very expensive toy. One that I would have probably skipped even if it was avialbale when I ordered.

In ten years they will be a lot cheaper too. To me the cost benefit wasn't there. It's an expensive toy that for me wouldn't be used much. I chose to spend my hard earned dollars elsewhere. To each their own.

yea, but believe me, when spending 70 grand for a car, or spending 72 grand does not make a difference...look at the monthly bill, it will be less than 10 more dollars depending on how long you choose to pay for the car

It's still $2K no matter what the monthly payment is, Don't rationalize the purchase based on the monthly payment and forget about the interest costs. Like I said to each their own. To me it wasn't worth it.
