Hello everyone. We picked up an 06 320 CDI last night. It has 400 miles on it and part of the cluster has lights out in it already. At night you can not read part of the clock, tach, or speedo. Just parts though so I know its not the dimmer. I was nervous about buying one of these because of all the little problems and this is not a good start. Anyone else seen this? By the way the car is a model year 06 but the build date was 8/05. Does that make sense? I know there is overlap but that seems like alot. What are the build dates on some of your 06s? Thanks alot. 35mpg on the way home last night was pretty cool.

They started building the 2007 model year E-Class in June, 2006, I think. The '07 diesels are not for sale until October to give the filling stations time to switch over to the ULSD fuel that the '07s are required to use.

Your 08/05 build date is not unusual. The '06 CDI carried on virtually unchanged from the '05 model; the notable change was the elimination of the Drive Dynamic seat option which I had on my 2005 CDI. All the big mechanical changes are in the 2007 diesel.

Now there is a humming noise coming from the dash near the light switch. I hope its all part of the same problem or I am going to kill someone. Any thoughts??

How did your CDI get 400 miles on it? Was it a demo? Has that car had any service work before you bought it?
