Does anyone like the new grille and bumper?

I have been considering getting another E350 now that the SBC brakes are gone but when I saw the new radiator and bumper at the dealer I had a sinking feeling that the old desing was classier. The MB badge on the grille also bothered me. It had been such a clean design and now I find it too busy.

Obviously, I won't let looks keep me from getting the car if I decide I want one but the revised front end was disappointing to me.

Does anyone else feel the same?

I've seen a couple 2007s and the new front is a bit busy for my tastes. I prefer the 2003-2006 front end, but the 2007 changes wouldn't keep me from buying one. I've thought about switching out for an E550.

I like it. A little "busier" than the pre-facelift, but not enough to keep me from drooling on one.

amdeutsch---What's it doing at....an Acura/Jaguar dealer? MB dealer as well?

So you aren't a fan of SBC either? I always thought it felt extremely odd. Forget the looks of the front end - you can't see it from the driver's seat! Just be sure to get the Sport version. I remember when you sold your 2005 CDI because you said it wasn't fun to drive. If a 2007 E350 Sport isn't enough fun, there is always the V-8.

You guys should lighten up on ClayJ. It's not easy being a billionaire.

I quite like the '07 revisions. But then again, I'm not the type of guy who would ever lower my car, replace my stock wheels ('rims'), tint my windows, or make any other aftermarket cosmetic modification to my car. So, in that light, maybe I just have different tastes than most.

I hate the new grille and bumper its hideous. If I am going to get that car I would immediately changed the grille and bumper to the previous design. This new front is too sharp and pointy does not match the car at all. Those German designers must be smoking weed when they design the front. The rest looks beautiful though.

problem with

the problem I have with the pointy front end is that is you park in any urban environment that point is subject to getting mashed by people banging into the bumper. I've always shyed away from cars that have pointy bumpers for that reason. Otherwise the car looks great, but I'll stick with what I have until they bring in a S class cdi

Not a big deal.

Stand 20 feet away and it's difficult to tell the difference.

Have you seen the W221? It has the dreaded "pointy bumper" that is causing such a stir among the E-Class faithful. Maybe it (the S-Class bumper) was overshadowed by the screams of agony regarding the styling of the wheel arches which were almost universally hated by the W220 owners. No one likes styling changes; it makes their current vehicle suddenly look out of date.

I agree! And I dare say that the point does not stick out far enough to cause problems with parking as stated earlier.

I don't like the grill, I don't like the front bumper, I don't like the tail lights and I don't like the steering wheel. I might like the the outside mirrors if they are more rectangular than the ones on my '04.

These changes are not something I could grow to like just as I'll never like the current BMW 5'er. On the other hand, I love the new BMW 3'er, especially the coupe.

The best part about it all is that it's just more reason to keep my E320 along with the console, free maintenance and more reliable 5G transmission.

I wasn't aware that the tranny changed in the '07 ? What is the 5g?

Edit: Saw the car at a dealer yesterday and seeing it in person, the nose looks worse, IMO

My 2004 E320 has the older 5 speed (5G) transmission. Beginning with the E350, the V6's got the same transmission that was in the V8's. It's a seven speed (7G). The seven speed has been problematic while the older 5 speed has been trouble free.

Like the old style front-end, new one is way to busy with chrome plastic surrounding the headlights and foglights. Front is too bowed out. Wouldn't stop me from upgrading though..

I don't like the new front end either, and it's not because it makes my vehicle look dated. Rather, I don't think the pointed front end flows with the softer, rounder lines on our car. It especially doesn't flow with the roundish headlights we have.

I think the pointed bumper on the new S-class looks nice. It blends nicely with the "pointed" headlights.

I'm not feeling the new tail lights...too ricey.

I do like the new side-view mirrors though...a bit more sporty.
