Got it! :)

Arrived to pick up the E500. Was the only new E there.

Here are the pics:

Hopefully everyone will get a look at it (the color is Platinum Blue and the one on mbusa.com are wrong) before my host shuts down my bandwidth limit for the month (unless I find something better). The color is best shown in the first image. It's a bit cloudy right now so it's hard to take a good pic.

Your car looks GREAT!

I too have a Platinum Blue on order and it is a little nerveracking not being able to actually see one first being that it is a new color. Got a bit scared with what they were showing for Platinum Blue on the updated MBUSA site which is clearly incorrect.

Is your interior Ash? That is what I ordered.

Congrats!

Barney, the car isn't mine, it's my sister's. The interior is ash.

As for the DVD system, it will be here some time next year. The entire part (where the current nav window is (with cd + tape) is gonna be replaced and a 6disc changer will be put in).

I love that thing!!! I looked on the MBUSA Website, and as is has the same engine spec's as the S500, and the CL500! Not bad for $56k!!

What are you replacing the outlined portion with?

the only thing I would suggest is replacing the wheels, and removing the hood star, and replacing it with the flat hood emblem. The aftermarket on fits right in the hole too!!

Replacing the wheels sure (even though its not necessary) but taking the hood star off, I donno. IMO the star give the car this extra touch of class, if I had the car I would keep it on

james - yes, the wood on the wheel is nice, but the thing is that they ran out after the first few were made, so not that many people will be able to get a wooden one.

as for the outlined part - that's what will be replaced when the DVD based version of the navigation comes out. The voice activated command system isn't there either till the updates are out, and neither is the 6cd changer (next year).

Vroom Vroom,

I am not 100% sure but I think the button area on the Command will stay on your car. There is also a U shaped gap inside that area around the screen and up around the CD slot that can be removed.

This is what I understand will be removed as the buttons for both the DVD and CD versions are the same. So don't assume it will all be replaced and take care of it!!

well we were told that the entire unit would be replaced (also read somewhere that the tape player will be removed as a result, but dunno about that).

my dealer told that just the tape player will be replaced....it would be to much money for them to throw away all the small screens..

Another thing I forgot to add is that the list on Manhattan MB for the new E's is filled, so if anybody is gonna start ordering now, the earliest that the cars will come is in November..

I finally got my hands on the new full E brochure. Awesome pics of the new platinum blue color on the cover and inside as well. This brochure comes with large and excellent paint color samples that really reflect how the paint will appear under different lighting conditions. A lot of the metallic colors (in particular black opal metallic and platinum blue metallic) really take on a much diff't look in different lighting and angles. The black opal goes from quite blue to black. The platinum goes from almost blue-grey to light silvery blue.

I'm glad I took the risk and ordered Platinum Blue/Ash.
