Retrofit the new 07 mirrors
I'm thinking about retrofitting the mirrors from the 07 to my 03' as soon as the 07' hit the showroom. I want to look at the car in person and do some homework see if they are interchangable.

Premier in ABQ had one on lot (blue) a couple weekends ago.
Interesting idea, but must come painted, etc. and sounds expensive.

any additional benefits beside the styling?
Also, i still think the old model (silver) looks better than the new (black).
A little cleaner that it's all flushed... but that's me.

The old mirrors fold flat, too, but it's an option not available in USA.
mbenznl installs it.

(The painted portion of the housing will now face away from the side window glass of the car, in effect allowing you to pull into a very narrow garage door, or park close to another car & still walk between them.)

The USA mirror will fold either way, to the front or back, but will spring back to the original position. This is supposed to allow for someone to hit the mirror without breaking it.

Normally when talking about folding mirrors on an E-class it's about folding them via the motor and the switch on the door.
Outside mirrors have been "breakaway" for decades.
