damn...wrong car...! help..

okay...so i go look at my new car that arrived. Tealite Blue E500 without the Sport Package.

i didn't like the color at all, and now i wish i had optioned the Sport package instead of the normal apron. It looks like a soap dish to me now...i didn't pick the car up, and my mom didn't drop the cheque.

my question is......how to clear this up? i really want the Sport Package now, and don't want to have the car that just arrived. what to do..??

can i tell the dealer to just order another car for me and they could sell that as a new car?

i think you can refuse the car and order another. the dealer should have no trouble selling this one. the only problem is now you have to wait in line again.

they would want you to do that....and since you do that, the car will be open to the public..so now they can sell over msrp...just order another car though...wait is bad...so watch out

Depends on availability, my dealer is sold out until Nov......I would imagine they could get a $3k-$5k premium on an available unit from someone who needs/wants the car "now." Although, I don't think this situation would be long lived at all.

if you're going to drop that amount of coin for a car, you should be 100% happy with it. otherwise, you'll be slightly pissed every time you drive it. i'm going to have to wait and see if i like the sports package enough to buy it or wait a couple of years and see if they start offering the amg package later like they do in every other freakin' country.

MB has a policy against second-stickerring. In other words, they will only sell a NEW car up to sticker. For used, even slightly used cars, that is a different story.

I imagine the dealer can sell yours (that arrived) at sticker and have you order the slightly more expensive version with the sport package - only their could be a relatively long wait for a custom ordered E500, depending on where you live.

if i refuse, what would the wait list be like? when will i get my car?

would anyone really buy this E500? at the dealer?

and we would have to wait in line again huh....that sucks...there's no fun in pissing the principal off at school anymore..he's always jealous of kids that bring their Boxters and Jaguars, BMW's, MB's to school....but we always like to park next to or around him

can we ask the dealer to "put" the skirts on? i know that Zung Fu has their own painting facility, but does Canada have it?

painting and accessory additions are almost never as good as the factory. since i was disappointed with the sports package, i looked into aftermarket stuff like brabus. by the time i was done pricing out all the modifications, the cost was in the 12 grand range (that's for front, rear and side skirts only & painting. no engine modifications). might as well wait a year and buy an e55 when they roll out. at least you'll also get the engine.

I agree that for the near term there may be a mark-up over MSRP. There also should be no problem in declining the car and ordering another one but the wait may be a long one. Maybe by this time next year there may even be discounts on the 2003's as the new 2004's arrive.

hmm...i'm not going to wait for the E55 since i won't even get to have one! its just too fast..and this will be my college or university car. i'm graduating from high-school this year, so i need something that i can work around. E55 isn't that kind of car, its fast and quick and hell of a car, but its not THE car.

waiting in line again would suck....could we pay the salesman some "under the table" money to get a better spot? if so, that would be ideal...or i would just stick with the car i have now and look into aftermarket kits...

thx for replies though

Woah, years? The W212 will be out by then .

It is highly unlikely that any "AMG Sports Package" will be available. The AMG body kit on the E55 is not THAT different from what you get in the sports package.

If you want a body kit that badly, get a Lorinser, Brabus, etc. Doing this is much better than waiting years for something that will never happen.

My dealer told me another story when I put down my deposit for a W211 E55 -- he said since I ordered the car I would get it guaranteed at MSRP. I asked him what would happen if I changed my mind later on, and he said that they were allowed to sell the E55 OVER MSRP if he sold it to the general public, so the deposit puts me #2 in line at my dealership, but also makes sure I don't get a price over MSRP ... but salesguys give wildly different information sometimes so who knows ...

If you look at the cover of the large new US E-class brochure, that is it. Called Platinum Blue Metallic in US, tealite blue in some others.

hey KrispyK. thanks for the input, my parents will go to Mb to talk to the salesman tomorow when i'm at school...hopefully everything will work out as i had hoped. if we decided to not claim the car, i think the salesman will put the vehicle back on the showroom floor? is this what they do? as for msrp, we'll see what we can do to "persuade" the salesman.

Mrgolf25, i don't think that they will be letting this car out for anything less than msrp, the car has never been driven, still at Mercedes Benz garage, the msrp is still 81,500can. and i think the car will be "slipped" to a friend of ours..sorry bro.

That is a nice color!

The sport package wheels look second class to the standard 17" double spokes on the 500! The instrument cluster also looks cheap as does the aluminum vs. the standard walnut interior trim.

Let's face it, all elements relating to the sports package are cosmetic; they have NOTHING to do with performance.

I looked at it in detail today at the E-Motion event in Miami. The standard E 500 looks better without the sports package - form wheels to interior appointments!

You made a good choice! If you don't take it, someone else will snap it up in a second!!

I don't agree with that....the Sport gauges add some contrast to the dashboard (they look especially good with a Charcoal interior). The aluminum used in the center console is used tastefully matches well with the rest of the aluminum trimmed wood and controls.

Well if the Sport package interior looks cheap, I guess the E55 interior is going to look cheap as well....because its basically the same interior (down to the white gauges, extra aluminum, black birds' eye maple).

I think both of the stock wheel designs suck, thats why we're changing them.

i thought the sport package was alright...nothing special...i think it will only look good in charcoal, and it is chromed around the wood. I definetely liked the regular e500 rims, and the black wood wouldnt look good in stone of course, and the tires were noticable, but very hush. Cant wait for our car, i am very pleased with our decision over the ls430

haha...Mrgolf..you found a LS430? awesome! tell us how it is. i heard its a lot faster than the LS400 off the line..but hell of a big car for your age

actually, i've seen the Advantgarde, Elegance, AMG packages side by side in hk...and i'd say the AMG's were the best, next was advantgarde then elegance. i like the white dash, and i like the black burl walnut.

How much different is the AMG styling package that is available overseas than our sport package? I hear our sport package is the equivalent of an avantgarde, is that true? The only difference that I saw on the AMG styling package was the exhaust tips and the 5 spoke AMG rims. Is there more?

The Euro Sport package looks exactly like the E55.....minus the 4 pipes in the back. So, it has the AMG side skirts, front/rear bumper. Looks really nice and aggressive.
