should rear drop equal front?

Just got my car lowered via computer. The drop was a 1" on the front and 1/2" on the back. The gap is just about even on both ends...2 fingers in the front and 1.75 fingers in the back. Should the back be lowered more to match the drop on the front? If I do this, the gap in the back will be considerably smaller than the front. What do you guys suggest?

It really comes down to personal preference…if you want the car to truly sit level then the gap in the rear will be smaller vs. the front…if you want the “gaps” to be equal front and rear, then the car will have a slight rake to it…my car is lowered and I chose the latter route

+1 on this. I too prefer my front to sit just a bit lower than the rear to make the fender gap match. Remember, the front fender wells are cut higher so with a truely level drop you will end up with a slightly larger gap in the front.

I used the washer method to drop my front a little bit more. There a many people on here that agree with this method and there are just as many people that disagree with this method. Do a search in this forum and you'll find more than enough info to base your decision on.

Post some pics of the car with the drop.

Dude, get rid of the washers. All you need to do is straighten the bracket itself. Taking the bends out will make it longer and drops the car to a perfect height. i can post pics, if you promise to try it. By the way, once you straighten the bracket, you just hold it straight with a needle nose pliar while you tighten.

From the other post, put up pictures. I'll do it this weekend. Sunday to be exact. I'm one of the few where star diag really didn't do anything for my car and it seems to look higher everytime I pay attention to it and it's getting to me. SO i'm going to try every dam method and post pics of everything.

I didn't mean you, but I like the desire. STAR drop SUCKS!!! I hate it because i do not have a star or good enough access to one to get it right.

Here are a few pics to show you the links. If anyone is in San Diego, I'll lend you mine so you can see the difference it makes. Notice that one had the bolt replaced, so you can do the washer if you want. Just DO NOT use the washer with the OEM setup!!

HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH

My boy Jangy!!! How'd I konw you were gonna yell at me? I know, I know...I should just stop being a cheap *** and drop the 1100.00 bucks for a lowering module. I will, I will...It's just so hard to do when my car looks so good now for under a buck. I'll try your bracket method, I promise. But I don't wanna mess with the ones that are on there now cuz this car is my daily driver, I sold the Jag. And if the bends aren't exactly the same on both sides the car's gonna be all lop sided and crap. I mean, 1 or 2 mm difference and the car's gonna look all whack.

Do you have an extra set of links laying around that I can mangle up? PM me...we can work something out. I'll send you my OEMs or I'll buy yours or wax your car. But I'm not waxing it in a bikini

By the way. By straightening the brackets, won't that absolutely SLAM the front? Seems like it would.

By the way, i used a press to straighten it. Took about half an hour per side, cause I am picky. Measured with calipers to set.

Your box is full. I'll send them tomorrow. Let me know if even you can't figure it out. There are a few things to keep in mind. Just like with the washer method, the elbow must remain out and not flip in. Also, these links are sided, so make sure you replace the correct one on each side. I'd say do one side at a time, so you can line everything up. No need to remove the wheel, just jack it up a bit for room. Also, use a needlenose to hold the link straight as you tighten the bolts.

PM box emptied.

Yeah, I should be able to figure it out. I've done the washer thing probably 5 times now.

I'll have to send you a bottle of brake dust cleaner. Holy chowder those are filthy. The drop looks about perfect though.

I played with it lots of ways to figure that configuration out. Funny how the easiest way was the best. Screw the brake dust bottle. Those rims are only glorified jack stands. i run the rears on the front and they are alreay powdercoated grey, so the dust blends in!!

Not problems, but you should get it aligned when you decide what height you want it at. I personally wanted even more negative camber, since I don't dump mine often. Also, I do not care about uneven tire wear. it actually wears pretty flat when you rage like I do.

Yo Benz o, another thing to keep in mind is that these are the links off of an '0 E55. There are apparently many variations of them , since my new ones are actually plastic!!

Here is the part number on the metal ones for reference. I packed the holes with grease for ya, too. I'm sending them out today.
