'03 and '04 Bluetooth

hey guys, just came across a thread in the Audio or tech forum.. apparently AWS is getting ready to release a Bluetooth module for the 03 and 04 cars that plugs into the cradle connector in the center console and you have bluetooth phone INTEGRATED into the system. The 03 and 04's apparently have a special TeleAid module that ALONE has cellular capabilities... so the whole phone kit wiring is NOT needed. The unit is codenamed "puck with tail."

It's due out next month.... seems like a no brainer upgrade for those who want a handsfree setup.....

Just FYI...

So I just plug it into my car the way it is and my BT phone will work..? (I do not have a phone currently installed or cradle, etc). WOW!

Yeah, no other wiring or kits needed. It hooks up in the center console under the "fake floor" and plugs in there and your hooked up once you pair the phone. You may need the dealer to turn on something with the Star Diag software. but otherwise seems to be an easy BT solution.

Just noticed something else. I didn't have the phone system installed in my car. It's a NAV replacement and I ordered it and it's previous version to be built at the factory..etc... I did not order phone... YET.. when I scroll the MFD I get a phone menu and it says to "Insert Phone" with a phone pic in the background. If I hit the TEL button on COMMAND I get a "Please insert phone" or something like that. On my 06 R class.. there is NO MFD menu for the phone at all (also no HCS installed).. and if I hit TEL on COMMAND it says "Phone NOT AVAILABLE" and the pic of the phone on the screen looks faded like it's ghosted.

Maybe a hint of sorts that the 03 and 04 E's might have phone capability without the HCS installed.

Anyone remember that article that was posted on the web before the w211 E55 came out with the "new command" features with NAV, etc.. it was a like a Mobile office... and I think it was mentioned that Bluetooth was supported... of course it never happened... but maybe it was meant too.. and MB pulled the plug last minute due to some "legal" reasons.

Guys, I just got the "puck with tail" unit on Monday.. and installed it this AM. I have Bluetooth in my 03.. and will have a full report later on. Suffice it to say I do NOT have a supported phone.... but I do some BT features on my car now. Install wasn't bad at all... and well.. more to come.

Stay tuned...

Are you serious? This is a huge breakthrough, as it would be a great alternative to the Argos that seems like it will never arrive. Is this really true?
Man, how much was it? how did you get your hands on it? who sells it?
You've given us hope!

I don't understand why you guys with 03-04 cars just don't buy the OEM cradle and bluetooth puck. I paid 450.00 for mine combined and the install is as easy as pie.

Q-6-82-0828 (V60 cradle short cord kit)
Don't know the model# of the V60 bluetooth puck but they're readily available.

You then have an OEM setup that fully integrates into your COMAND, downloads your phonebook and you can place and recieve calls via the steering wheel. What does the puck with tail get you that this doesn't?

Forgive my bluetooth ignorance, but will installing the V60 cradle and puck allow me to use my own bluetooth enabled phones (Motorola V551 and RAZR)?... and have them fully intergrated... or am I restricted to the V60 phone from MB? TIA.

The short answer is yes. You need to install the V60 cradle kit and v60 puck. You do not need the linear compensator or any of that jazz. Just the cradle and puck. You will need to have your dealer activate it though. This is exactly the route I went and I can use my Motorola V3 Razr all day long in my car, fully integrated.

This is one of the ONLY benefits of owning a 2003-2004 W211

Part number for puck/tail is B67 87 5855

I installed it yesterday and had it coded today in my 03-E500 . It works great!
Very simple just plugs right in. I use a Nokia 6230I and it has full functionality.
Phone book download/last number redial/Call id.
The only thing I can not figure out is what the button with the picture of the Ear is for on the Euro Command. I would have assumed for volume, but not so.
Does anyone know how to switch to "private" use on the system so that all the passangers in the car won't hear the call in porogress if need be?
Thanks

Verizon wireless, but that shouldn't matter. Bluetooth is bluetooth regardless of provider.

I have 2004 E500 with Nav. but no phone or cradle installed. I have the Motorola puck with tail and and have removed the false floor in the console but cannot find a the cable to attach the puck. It seems from the threads that some owners have had successful installs without cradles or phones...Sorry for the dumb question...do I need more hardaware...Thanks
