((BRAKE!)) VISIT WORKSHOP message on 05 E320 CDI

Just got this message today, now I am hoping this means I just have to replace break pads. I looked at the rotors and they do look pretty worn out, there is a good size lip on them.
Is there any other issiue that would cause BRAKE! VISIT WORKSHOP message to appear? I guess MB does not specify what the problem is, my BMW warning displays - BREAK PAD WEAR.
BTW car had 86k miles on it.

I'd be amazed if your brakes lasted 86K miles.. did they?

Also, how's the car been otherwise? Any major problems?

Well I had the car about 3 weeks now, put on about 1k miles. I feel like I am cleaning up after the previous owner who did not maintain the car properly. So far I changed the oil with filter, fixed fuel leaks, replaced air filter.
Now I have this ((BREAK)) light on. When the pads wear out do you usually get BREAK or BREAK WEAR light? I am a little paranoid about it being something over than just pads.

Weird, went downstairs to check on the exact message and it was gone, I started the car twice and still could not get it to come up. I guess that's good. Could it be just a fluke?

Brakes visit workshop

Brakes visit workshop!
My car started to flag up this warning in the display then would reset after restarting the car.
The car went to the workshop three times ........pad censors replaced several wires also replaced all to no good.
Guess what ?? It was a faulty brake light swich that operates the rear brake lights.
If you search the forum I am sure that other people have had the same problem

Just be sure the guy who owned it before you had all of the SBC brake recalls done. Otherwise, it's not hard to have someone (any brake shop) check the amount of brakes you have left and make sure it's not the wear.

Thanks guys, I thought it would be something like that.
I am pretty mechanically savvy, and I hate going to the stealer and paying them crazy labor charges. Is the brake light switch easy to get to and is there a special tool required to remove it?
What did the dealer charge you for this procedure?

eitherway, make sure the SBC recalls are complied with. I don't believe there is a cost at the dealer to check that. SBC is great (in my view), but had some issues with harnesses that needed replacement, and such in the beginning.
