Not to further pee on your parade, but here's what similar cars (2003 E500 with similar miles) are selling for at Manheim auctions (this is what a dealer would pay):
09/21/06 W PALM Lease $21,800 64,385 Below OBS BLK 8G A No
09/27/06 W PALM Lease $22,400 64,744 Below GRT GRY 8G A No
09/20/06 ATLANTA Lease $22,000 64,950 Below PEW MET 8G A No
09/12/06 FT WAYNE Lease $23,000 65,532 Below BLACK 8G A Yes
09/26/06 AMERICAN Regular $23,000 66,080 Below GRAYK 8G A Yes
09/14/06 RIVRSIDE Lease $22,500 66,171 Below TECTITE 8G A No
09/21/06 MANHEIM Lease $19,500 66,386 Below BRI SIL 8G A No
09/20/06 ATLANTA Lease $22,500 66,965 Below BLACK 8G A No

Now, I have sold my 2003 E500 on eBay with great success. The car had 64K miles, peweter on ash, xenons, harman khardon sound, active seats and aftermarker wheels, body kit, tint, grille etc. I put it with NO reserve and I think that's what helped me. Similar cars were selling for under $30K (this was back in July 2006) and mine ended at $31,150. The buyer paid for shipping and picked it up without any problems in a week. I had it previously advertised for $32K locally, on all the sites (cars.com, Craig's list, AutoTrader.com) and had many bites (2 close sales actually). I think what worked in my favor was the fact that the car was modified (I wish I could attach images but I can't for whatever reason).

Hope this helps

What about the market for a 2005 E500

I would really like to see this data for the Washington DC area for a 2005 E500 with about 10-20K miles. Can some really nice person post this info? I'm sure it will be useful for others as well.... Thanks!

WEB: Manheim as listed, is Manheim, PA, which runs a huge highline sale. The majority of cars ending up or being sold from the DC area will end up there. There is also Baltimore (which is a Manheim sale) as well as Fredericksburg (a pretty good size Manheim sale) ...... Manheim, PA is certainly going to be the decider for NOVA cars... I don't see a great volume of the same MBs at Baltimore or Fredericksburg.

For any interested parties...... $28000 takes my car..... come get it

Sorry I'm late to the post. I've got a quote for 20k on trade-in on my 03 e320 with 50k miles. Non-sport, no xenons so it's a base model. Six months ago I was offered 29k on trade-in, what the hell happened? The 07 E is a minor face lift!
I'm coming out of denial and into acceptance. The car is certified so I've got two years/50k miles before I'm not covered, but like others on this post, I bought the damn thing as it historically maintained some value.
I'm going to go back to the dealer that sold me this car (along with 5 other vechicals in the past) and guilt them into taking it back, it's my last attempt. I'll gladly accept the $24k kbb trade-in. Otherwise, I'm off to the 200k mile club!

Private party is your best friend. I bet you can get at least $25K...

flash gordon i wish I could you should also see what E55's and SL55's go for here.. Firstly our cars here our RHD (yes we drive on the wrong side of the road) so it would have to be converted. Secondly that only way to legally bring in an 03 car from the states unless you had a compliance certificate for it (impossible pretty much as MB sell the same model locally) would be as a personal import which would mean living in the States for a year...(Can I camp out in your back yard for a year hehehe). My wife is from Taiwan where they drive lhd cars I might ask her what an 03 E500 would sell for there, Merc's are very popular.

Our cars here in Aus have a huge amount of import duty and tax loaded on the top hence sell for a much higher price and also a smaller market. Hence resale is also higher.

Local prices below

Good luck with the sale...
