Drove a E500 today.

Well I'm not an immediate buyer of the new E class, since I just bought a ML last October and my current car lease is not up until next Fall, but I did get a chance to drive an E500 today. I've been bugging my dealer about brochures and he finally got some in yesterday. I went by to pick one up and he had the E on the lost unsold. He said it showed up unexpected. We drove for about 20 minutes in town and this car is awesome! I plan to order a E320 next year but may change my mind when that time comes. The 500 seems perfect for a car this size and I couldn't imagine the power in the 320. My ML has the 320 in it and it feels underpowered as it is. Maybe by this time next year MB will have announced the E350 and I can look at that.

Overall the the new E class is spectacular looking. Ride was great and the suspension system is ccol. The E500 I drove only had the E1 package as an option and sticker was about $58,000. No markup and no discounts. Will probably be gone by this time next week.

To all that have E's already or on order enjoy them. I'm just counting the months....

I have an ML320 as well. The only time it feels underpowered to me is going up steep hills but if I rev it a little higher it seems fine. Of course, I'd also prefer not to tip my ML over and frequently have 7 passengers when I use that car.

Keep in mind that the E320 weighs 1,000 pounds less than an ML with the same exact engine. This translates into a 22% increase in power when you look at horsepower/weight.
