E500 coolant temperature: 95-100 C normal?
The coolant temperature in my car has always been around 95 sinc it was new, if one is driving downhill on the freeway it will drop to 90. On hot days, it is 100 in the city and 95 to 100 on the freeway. I recently travelled in a friends E320 and he says his never goes above 90 on the freeway. What temperature do other E500s operate at?

Update
I toggled through the diagnostics menu 6 of the climate control (pressed REST for about 6-7 seconds) and found that 90 on the bar display is actually in the mid 80s C, 100 C on the bar display starts at around 92 C. So, my car seems to be running between 85 and 92 C. In a long traffic jam in summer heat, I saw it go up to 99 C. However I drove a friends E350 and his runs between 76 and 84 according to the diagnsostics menu, even when left idling for ten minutes it did not go above 84. Do I have to worry?

You are fine. My car is about the same. You cannot compare it to a 320 engine since the 500 is bigger and have different characteristics when it comes to cooling. The car will give you an alert if the temperature become too high. As long as the fan kicks in and the car doesn't alert you, you are good to go.
