Latest mod - Budget exhaust experiment **VIDEO**
So I wanted to get a little more grunt out of my E500. I read on here that a couple of people were happy with their very moderately priced Magnaflow exhausts so I said to my self, "Self, why don't you go ahead and do this as an experiment." So I priced out the hardware, spoke to a local exhaust shop, and decided that it was so cheap it was basically free. I purchased 2 Magnaflow mufflers for 65.00 a piece or something like that and had my guy install them for 325.00 bucks. Minus the 100.00 Mercedes-Benz gift card for the SBC recall and my total out of pocket was just a little over 350.00. I mean, cmon, I had to give it a shot. And if I didn't like it, I could always put the stock mufflers back on. So, I decided not to do the cut-outs and tips like the others had. I wanted to keep the exhaust tucked underneath the rear valance to keep the stock look. If I want to add tips and do the cutouts later, I can. I don't have any pics but you see less of the new mufflers than you do of the OEMs. Here's a couple vids of how it sounds. The quality isn't the best but you'll get the idea.
I know I'll get flamed for putting on a Magnaflow exhaust on my car but like I said, It was so friggin cheap, I couldn't afford not to do it.
It ends up with a pretty sweet exhaust note believe or not. When the engine is under load between 1800-2000 rpm, it's a bit loud for me, but definately not over bearing. It does resonate in the cabin when it's in this "sweet spot" but I'll get used to it.
This one is a 1/2 throttle acceleration then flooring it but I had to quickly let off becuase some workers were pulling their truck out.

This one is normal driving with a couple of W.O.T. runs.

This one is a W.O.T. run from 0-97 mph.

Yeah, the windows were rolled up. Remember, that was W.O.T. though. You can also hear the drone of the tires a little bit. You'll get that with 19's sometimes, especially on back roads.
