Here at my dealership MB has us switching over to Mobil 1 5W40 .
We are no longer being supplied the 0W40 in bulk. However we are told to continue to put in the 0W40 in the AMG models.

As discussed in another thread, I think the new 5W-40 Mobil 1 is a low ash version of 0W-40 so that it will work with the new V6 diesel's particulate filters. Switching dealers to 5W-40 lets them use the same oil for both gas and diesel.

If you have a gas car, you can continue to use 0W-40 if you change your own oil or have to add oil.

How many miles do you have on your car? I also have an 03 E320 and never had to add oil to it -- currently 65K on the clock. Thanks...

Regards,
paul....
