look at the YTDs for the 5 series and e -class...
interestingly enough the e-class sales have been going DOWN
from 41K in 04 to 33K in 06 where as the
5 series sales have steadily increasing over the years from 32K to 38K in 06.
so Does this mean that people are finally starting to warm up to the 5-series looks , its catching on ? or does that mean people were just fed up with the quality of 03 e-classes that they switched to 5 -series?
one other thing is MB kills bmw in the high end cars e.g. S/CLS cars but BMW rules over the low end cars e.g. c-class.
I have no idea why 5-Series sales are going up - the car still looks the same as in MY '04 and the I-Dunno-Drive is about the same - but the perception of quality problems must have something to do with the decline in E-Class sales. It's not enough to say that the W211 isn't new any more, since the E60 isn't new any more either.
It seems to me that most people want a sportier feel, so more people would gravitate to the slightly cheaper german box.
I doubt this forum has much to do with sales. If a buyer is scared about service problems, they're going Lexus.
It's a dog compared to an E320CDI.
Kind of juvenile, too, what with black vinyl and leather everywhere. Anthracite is much more grown up.
Cruise control is a major annoyance, too, as it has to light a big red light right in middle of speedo. It constantly catches your eye.
i drive wasn't much problem.

Compared to Mercedes and everyone else in America. The 525 is the value leader and selling 1,000 units a month every month. Take away that dog and the race would be much closer.
