RE: Tires on E500

The standard tires on the E500 in Canada are shown as 245/45R/17. performance.

What tire supplier are they using? - Michelin?

The cars are just arriving into Vancouver, and I have seen a E320 with Michelins, smaller tires thou.

If they are Michelins which series do they fall into. ie luxury performance, or all-season.

Thanks for any info.

Tires on E500??

This car is able to go 155mph with limiter on correct. An H rated tire will only go to 130mph. Now I do not plan to drive the car at that speed much but I will take it up once or twice to it's limit. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a BMW 540i and I have just taken it up to the max just to get it there (150mph) and I would have hated to loose a tire at that speed.

Any other comments?

Mike

Get rid of the tires....Michelin Pilot Primacy (ZorV) or Pilot XGT Z4 if you encounter a lot of rain and some snow....would be my personal recc.

I see the Conti's everywhere....

I have them on an older car and they are nice but Im guessing Continental struck a good deal for the bundle. They come standard on various Audi's, Volkswagen Passat, and several Volvos including the small S40. I found nothing special about them, except the price which was very reasonable. After a few thousand miles they seem fine and very good in the wet. They dont make much noise in the twisties and seem to hold the road fairly well. Michelin seems to be very over priced and a great deal of the price certainly goes into marketing.

Thumbs down

MB sure used cheap tires by picking Continental. It dosen't seem right for a $50,000-$70,000 car. My past two Es have had Goodyear Eagles and Michelin Pilots from the factory.

A good trade at shop I upgraded mine to 18'.
They're willing to trade the factory tires & rims both.

If you don't mind telling what was the net cost of the tire upgrade after trading in the originals?
