Seat hole repair question

Below is a pic of a 3/8" hole/damaged area of the front passenger seat on the seat cushion surface close to the rear where it meets the backrest and driver's side edge. Doesn't go all the way through the (webbing?) but certainly the leather surface. Previous owner wasn't a smoker so it's not a burn. Also in a area where your butt wouldn't make contact.
Anyhow, my question : is this something that I should consider repairing or is it one of those things that's best left alone ? (doesn't appear that it will get worse on it's own)

I think I'd leave it alone.

Starbrite,

Why don't you post in the detailing section on this forum? You may get someone who had a similar problem. Other than that, I'd agree with Talbot and leave it alone. Also, stay away from any of those kits shown on TV or in auto parts stores, Walmart, etc.

Regards,
paul...

New upholstry can be purchased from your dealer. Remove the old damaged seat cover and install the new one. I am not certain if you can purchase only the one section or you need to buy the one for the entire seat.

I would'nt speed $ to get new upholstery. I agree with Paul and Talbot.....leave it alone. Put something on top of it so you won't see it if it bothers you

This is the way to repair the seat if it really bothers you having the damage. The "repair kits" are a joke when it comes to doing this repair. You should be able to buy just the seat bottom at the dealer to make the repair. I have the same issue in my Limited Excursion and the part is available,, however I decided to live with it for a while at $450 for the seat bottom. Jim

Thanks for the responses guys. My gut feeling was to leave it alone (it doesn't bother me that much
because I didn't do it-came w/the car).
However, I thought in this age of paintless dent removal and other detailing
fixes, that maybe someone had success with a pro doing this kind of repair.

It's definitely in a spot that won't receive contact so it won't get worse.

Its an easy repair. It has to go to the upholstery shop. They will order a section of fabric, remove the seat skin, unsew the piece from your seat skin & sew in the new section. I had it done once (under warranty) on another car. The shop will make sure the color is the same before doing the repair, and it will be undetectable. The cost may or may not make you want you to do it.

Don't do it thru the dealer... find out who they send their upholstery repairs to & go there directly.
