Thoughts on DRL

I'm thinking about trading in my 03 E320 for a 07 E550 since I like the new facelight. However got me thinking since all the new MB have DRL as standard. I hate DRL, is there a possiblity you can turn it off or have the Dealer to disable it. What are your thoughts on DRL for those who lives in the U.S. I find it annyonance

As far as I know my lights are not on at all. The 03 to an new 211 is night and day. Trust Me. I had an 01 E430 and when the new 211 style came out, I picked up an E500. The handling was so much better.

Get out there an get an E550 you will not regret it

Daytime Running Lights are not standard on the 2007s. They are still selectable in the vehicle settings in the MFD. They are standard in Canada, but not USA.

Also, DRL is required in Canada, but not in the US. Test drive any Mercedes with the 5.5L DOHC V8, and you WILL want one right after.

I've driven the 550 and it takes the E500 to a different level. the E500 was truly a nice car for its niche, but the added 80hp really adds to the smoothness.

You better believe it. hahahahaha.

But look at it this way, 55fanatic, you have the option of supercharging it, while people with the E550 have to wait for upgrades for it.

As stated above, you can decide if you want them or not. And I agree with you totally, I really don't like DRL's. Especially on GM products. It's like they've got their brights on all the time. And it seems with time some come out of adjustment and start aiming right for my eyes. I can think of several times where I've had to look to the right to keep from being blinded. How safe can that be?

Why would you hate something that is proven to save lives?

Give it a test. Run with your DRL on and you will see people making lefts do not try and beat you through the interection, they will wait.

I like DRLs as well. But since I like to have to the rear parking lamps on as well, I just move the switch to parking lamps, or full on headlights.

Whenever I get out of the car, I quickly switch it back to auto, so the "security" lights come on at night, if I'm away from it for that long.
