CDI was introduced in 05 and offered again in 06. As of 06 the Easy Entry/Exit feature has been modified in the instrument cluster (IC) whereas only the steering column will move. The seat will not move during Easy Entry/Exit activation. The user can only select Easy Entry/Exit either “On or “Off” in the IC display. If by late 03 you mean late 05 or 06 you may not have a problem at all.

1) IC menu – key dependency must be off
2) Exit the vehicle and lock (if the windows or roof are open close all with key)
3) Wait a minute or two then unlock (open windows and roof with key)
4) Exit again (close windows and roof with key)
5) Unlock (leave windows and roof in the closed position)
6) Reset limits by moving the seat forward to the end stop, then to the rear to the end stop (repeat several times)
7) IC menu – reset both steering and seat in Easy/Entry Exit then key dependent to on.
Also, remember to set your second key through the IC menu.
If this doesn’t work you can mention to your dealer: P-B-80.57/38a SEPT06 – Seat Moves to Incorrect Position When Using Easy Entry/Exit Feature. There may be a software error in the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS).

There also seems to be a safety beyond which the seat will not move. If you are in front of that safety your seat will move past you present preset postion. Its one of those quirky setups. Try moving your seat forward, memorize all, pretending you have real short legs.

I've never gotten mine to work, took it to the dealer but they claimed it works fine.. shortened up my legs still no movement. I gave up.. Perhaps I will try to re-sync this weekend to see if that works at all.

Thats the story on the seat. Enjoy the car... they're pretty much fun to drive.

I beg to differ, I have the 07 E280 and I had the same problem, only the wheel would move, not the seat. I did not worry about it but the ESP went faulty and I took it in and they switched out the instrument panel and all came good, the ESP workign again and the seat started moving back with the wheel up when it was switched off. They have since ordered a new instrument panel from Germany and it should be installed after this Lebaran holiday around the 1st of Nov.
