black is more of a deeper black...but when you keep your car clean i heard that obs is more shiny....thats why we got it..also....reg black has swirls....up close it looks ugly, unless you zainoize it

The main difference is the obsidian has a pearly shimmer to it in direct sunlight. It also hides small scratches better. In real conditions, that is with a thin film of dust or dirt on your car it is hard to tell the difference.
What you should do is go to the dealer and look for yourself. Both colors have been around a long time and you should have no trouble finding several cars in each (particularly if you stroll through their used lot).

Photos won't help you much.
I have obsidian black and you have to see it to visualize the difference.
If there's no direct sun, the obs and flat blacks look virtually the same. In sunlight, the obs is metallic black. It's 'blackness' is not much different than flat black unless it's viewed in very good light.

Here is one of pic of mine, you can't tell by pictures, but Obsidian black really shines under the sun, the metallic shows pretty nice, I like it better than true black because of the metalic shine (I know I kind of said the same 2 times)

Obsidian black is a great color if it hides swirls better than matte black, but it's still black, and still prone to idiot *******s who would like to scratch
