ipod noise
Just installed Euro Comand with nav module, and ipod integration kit in my 2003 E320. Everything works perfectly except for the ipod. It will work ok for about 10-15 minutes then this static sound will come through the speakers while playing the ipod. The sound will continue while playing the radio, cd changer or activating the voice recondition system. Static will also increase or decrease with the volume. Only when I physically disconnect the ipod from the connection in the grove box, will the static noise gradually disappear. I’ve tried two different ipods, same problem.
any ideas?

I had a somewhat similar problem but noise wasn't really loud; however, it was annoying. I got a new "white" Apple connection cable for the link between the iPod and the jack in the glove box and that solved the problem. My earlier cable was from Radio Shack and did not have the gold connections of the Apple cable.
Your problem sounds more serious that what I experienced but you might want to change your interconnect cable and see if it helps.

Hey everyone
Thanks for responding; being that I did the install myself, I decided to go over the installation instruction and make sure I followed them correctly. Everything looked ok except for the ipod interface module; it was installed upside-down, so I figured what the hell, flip it around according to the install instructions, make sure all connections are secure, and see what happens. Well, the noise is almost gone. Still hear it a little, and then it goes away completely; but it does return every time I restart the car. Don’t know if flipping it around had anything to do with it, or maybe disconnecting and reconnecting the connections; going to check ground, and software flash from dealer.
Will post results
Thanks

Well, Euro Comand and navigation retrofit works great, but still getting that crackling static sound through my speakers, after weeks of troubleshooting, I’ve determined that its not the ipod kit at all, but very well could be the navigation module in the trunk. I removed the nav module two days ago, and I haven’t heard any crackling or static at all. Going to change module, will update with results.
