Uh ... yeah. A pimple is an improvement over a wart. Has anyone tried putting that Sirius antenna inside, on the rear package shelf where it joins the glass? That location works fine for an XM microantenna on our car, but maybe not Siriusly.

Great Pix & explanation. The Black puck on my '04 was a flat black color (installed in March '04 by the dealer svc department when the Sirius kits finally arrived from MB to the USA). I asked them a hundred times if it was paintable, as my (metalic) Pewter body color looked great, but the flat black puck looked terrible. No one seemed to know if the puck could be painted, so it stayed flat black.

I knew you had an antenna problem... (because at one time I too had a defective antenna replaced... I seem to have had EVERY problem). The guys here seem to be of the opinion that the small body colored ones like you now have give them no problems, so NOW you will enjoy Sirius reception (except near Oheka Castle [L.I. Reference])

You answered a lot of questions today! Thanks.

DWP, see post #7 here https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...sirius+antenna

Barry, although they could have taken the easy route and just subbed the antenna first, they checked evreything thoroughly, including the SN of the SDAR. In fact the tech called me into the shop and explained about the need for a splitter w/the new single wire providing both the Sat and the Terrestial (repeater) signals. He also stated that I should leave the gasket impression on the paint from the old ant. alone, that it would go away by itself in 3-4 weeks. (I had read that in the forum. You can see the ring in post #24 above pic) It really does work great now including in the garage. (granted the trunk is by the door).

I'll be sure to avoid Oheka
