Tire Pressure question?

What tire pressure should I keep constant on all 4 wheels. I have the 18" sport wheels on the e350. I pumped them up to 40psi, is that bad?

I don't think it's good. You're getting an unnecessarily harsh ride and possibly excessive wear in the tire centers. Any particular reason why you don't want to use the recommended pressure in the manual and on the door jamb sticker?

4 wheels
Go with 35 all around. Good ride and excellent gas mileage.

I run 34lbs and don't notice any increased harshness. Recommended pressures are definitely tilted toward comfort. I think 40lbs is inviting uneven wear.

No necessarily. My E550 4Matic "Gas Filler Door" recommends 40lbs is you run at 100mph or more. I have been known to hit those speeds from time to time.

I would say look at your "Gas Filler Door" and set your tire pressure to the recommended value at your driving preference.

Good Luck.

I run my 18" sport tires at 34psi. Provides good comfort and even tire wear.

No reason to run as high as 40psi...higher recommendations for 100mph+ are for sustained running at triple-digit speeds (i.e. the Autobahn).

I run 36psi rear and 33 front. And so far that is the best combination I have found. I run a similar setup in the M3 also. It gives you just enough performance along with fuel economy.

Depends on the tiresize you use.I use the CLS specs since the car is similar in weight and the tiresizes are the same on the 18" rims. 28front 32 rear
