Is this "normal"? (Audio 50)
Hey everyone.
A few times over the last while [but not always, as is typically the case with electronics], when selecting SERV on our Audio 50, the "clock" option is shaded grey, and when the clock soft touch button is pushed, nothing happens. (The other SERV soft buttons remain properly lit [i.e. are not shaded] and still work.)
Other times, the clock option is normally lit and working properly.
Is this "normal", for some strange reason, or do I have a funky Audio 50 unit?
Any and all help greatly appreciated!

Perchance that someone has had a similar problem with a COMAND head unit?
Really hoping I can establish something here, so that I can counter the usual dealer "cannot reproduce the problem" response...

Is the Audio 50 the unit with the small display and cassette player used on non-navigation '03 models?

If so, I'll try to remember to check mine this evening.

Sorry, murman, can't help you. The only options under "SERV" on my Audio 50 (if that's what I have in my '03) are "Languag." and "Display." No "Clock" option, greyed out or otherwise.
It would really help if people would indicate (a) what year and model of W211 they have and (b) where they are.

We have a 2004 E320 Cdn-spec wagon; 01/2004 build I believe.
Under the SERV option, we have Languag., Display and Clock. I'm wondering if we have a Clock option because we have a non-APS Audio 50. Maybe the APS version's clock is set automatically by GPS?

Don't recognize term APS on USA version unless it's NAV.
Yes, the clock is automatically set by GPS--it's cool to watch it spin when you cross a time zone.
It does NOT automatically change for daylight savings time--do this with SERV if you have NAV.

Sorry... you lost me there. We have to set the time manually on our Audio 50.
We have the North American spec Audio 50 "radio" which, as far as I'm aware, has no connections to NAV or GPS antenna.
When I pulled the unit out a short while ago, I noted that I only had the integrated electrical/fiber optic plug at the back of the unit. The other plug at the back had nothing attached, and I'd presume that is where the GPS antenna would be attached (if there was one).
