Personally, I would pay more for this since I view it as a better quality product.
Agreed. My car is a 2005 so the "inserts" aka the perforated parts of the from seats are leather, and the rest of the front seats and the back seats are MB Tex. The driver seat looks wrinkled despite my frequent conditioning with Meguairs for MB leather seat care. For 2006+ all C-Class models have standard MB Tex on all surfaces. My car is only 18,000 miles old, so I can't imagine how the leather would look in a few years.

Would be nice, but with an 18 month and 8 year old, I'm not prepared to do a trip over the big pond. And I do not think my wife will allow me to go by myself. So I wait.....

I'd prefer Alcantara over MB-Tex, but man-made materials hold up SO much better for automotive use.
Alan,

The 2007 E320 CDi base price is lower than the 2006 and part of the reason is the lower basic contents, including optional leather. I think it is good that MB allows its customers to choose. Not everyone wants to have satellite radio, navigation or leather. Chevy Suburbans and Cadillac Escallades are absolutely loaded to the gills with extras, usually in the $15,000 mark and buyers would have to special order lower content ones. This is far worse for the customer.

2003-2005 E320 came with front and rear leather seating inserts. In 2006 they went to a full MB-tex rear seat and in 2007 they went to full MB-tex on all seats. For some reason the 06 leather insert portion feels softer then if u get full leather.

An expensive grade of Vinyl looks and feels new far longer than leather ...and it requires almost no care. I wouldn't care if the car was all vinyl.. geez, you can get leather in a Hundai and other Asian cars, but their fabrics & vinyl look & feel absolutely awfull... MBs actually is a nice, quality textured vinyl.

I just got my 2007 with Black MB tex. To me the seats actually feel much softer than the "leather" interior in my 2006. I'm liking it so far. The seat bottom and the lower portion of the backrest on the 06 started showing wear even after only 15k miles.
