Puddle Lights?
Im installing some puddle lights that are mounted under the side skirts. I want to connect them to a 12v source that dims in/out when you open/close the doors.
Wheres the most convienient place to tap into? I hope it isnt the dome light..
TIA,
W Cole

Does anyone know how to remove the dome light?
I STFF but couldnt figure it out?
Right now I have the puddle lamps connected to the footwell lights. What i didnt realize is that when the car is on theres ~1.5v going through this circuit so the puddle lamps are always on.. looks rice.

Finished them. If anyone else is interested in doing an install like this tell me and Ill post the pics.
I know a lot of people are interested in replacing interior lights.. FYI the lights in the dome are the same type of W5W wedge bulbs as the city lights.
In order to get the 12v source for the puddle lights to work I ended up soldering 2 wires onto the back of one of the dome light bulb holders.
When isntalling puddle lights DO NOT tap into the 12v source from the footwell lights (the interior lights underneath the passenger or drivers side dash). When the key is in the ignition and the doors are closed these lights will always have a constant 1.5v so the puddle lights will always stay on slightly.

Sorry for the long wait guys.. i dropped my camera and broke the lense while trying to take these pics.
I think I am going to take the lights off of the side skirt and space them further apart. And also angle them so they shine farther away from the car.
The red arrow points to where I tapped into the dome light bulb holder. As far as I know this is the only place in the entire car that is suitable to connect the puddle lights too. Fortunately routing the wires across the headliner and down the a pillar is easy. I drilled a small hole in the thin aluminum floorboard in order to run the wires to underneath the car.

I could do it again in maybe 2 hours. But this took me from about noon to 11 at night. I couldn't figure out how to get off the dome light.. I ended up just prying it off with a screwdriver.
