pewter & ash

I am considering buying an E320 and was thinking of Pewter / Ash combination. In the brochure from the dealer, this is listed "special order combination", not a "standard combination". Anyone know if this is because it may look funny? Anybody have any pictures of an E320 with this combination?

Thanks,
Apurva

I thought only certain ext colors incurred the special order charge. I don't think it applies to inter colors. I've ordered pewter/stone and did not have the extra charge. The website may be wrong. There have been many other errors with it.

Pewter and ash is a great combo. It does not impose a special charge, at least on an E 500.

Pewter, a metallic color is an option on the 320 @ $655. Full Ash leather would be an additional option on the 320 @ $1440. If you use the "Build Your Own" area on the MBUSA site, there is no "special order" charge per se added, only the option price for the metallic paint and full leather.

I can't comment on the Pewter/Ash combination because I don't have the info in front of me. There ARE several combinations that incur the special order upcharge in ADDITION to any charges for metallic or leather on the 320.

Some colors are special order with all interiors (i.e., Black Opal Metallic) and these vary from year to year. Some COMBINATIONS of otherwise standard ext and int colors are also considered special order and your's may be on. Some combinations are strictly not available and I suspect those are ones they think will look too awful to wear the MB badge.

I think this is all shown pretty clearly in the brochure

Barney is right. I am now at home and am taking a look at the "Big" E brochure. It indicates that a Pewter/Ash combination is a "special order" for the 320 and for the 500 whether standard or sport package. Hard to understand that! It seems in conflict with the MBUSA website. Another information mystery resolved only if you try to order it I guess.

Angry

This whole bit of why and when they make you pay the special order upcharge is a mystery. I can see how they would focus on a more limited number of standard paint colors for any year and there may be some expense to pull out the bucket of Black Opal metallic. Since they are using only 4 interior colors, it seems like highway robbery to have to pay just to have them put stone in a Pewter car while it is free in a black car. Can't see how it would be any inconvenience or extra work for them in that case. Just seems unfair.

For my E320, getting Black Opal Metallic with stone full leather would be $655 + $1050 + tax or around $2K, $3.5K if you also include the leather upcharge! I think we lose some perspective on these numbers since the cars are so expensive in the first place. I could probably lease a new Passat for a year just for what I'd have to pay for this combination!

I'm awaiting my 320 in Platinum Blue/Ash.

It does seem like MB is pushing pricing a little too far here. You still made an excellent choice in plat blue and ash. I really like that color

Plat blue/ash will definitely be a nice combo.......I think Plat blue/Pacific blue would be interesting as well (would have to see it first). Is anyone getting Pacific blue for their interior or know of anyone? I don't think anyone at our dealer as of yet has ordered that interior color.

FYI,

I got a quote from the dealer for the E320 in pewter / ash and he did add in the $1150 special order charge. I am going to send this to other dealers to see if this is consistent.
