Euro Comand & Cd Changer
If I install a EURO COMAND, will I still be able to use my 6 disc cd changer that came with the car or is this something the dealership will have to reprogram or something.
THanks!

I installed a US comand into my '03 E320, and my cd changer works as before. I still cant play MP3 with the changer, but the single slot in the comand plays MP3 fine.

I read the brochure for the 07's again & it specifically states that the COMAND single slot cd plays MP3 CDs. No mention anywhere of the changer having the same capability.

Although not mentioned in the brochure the 6 disc changer also plays MP3 CDs (since 05).

My changer does work... but I tried it with out the changer connected and the COMAND doesn't work.... how can i remove my changer and still have the COMAND work? Does it need to be reprogrammed showing "no cd changer" or something? Thanks!

I'm not an expert, but I think you have to remove the CD changer's fibre wiring from the MOST loop. Effectively the opposite of what's done when a CD changer is retrofitted. When you add a CD changer, you need to change the fibre wiring that goes into the COMAND unit in order to add the CD changer to the loop...

Depends?!
How handy are you? Two fiber plugs will need to be taken apart. The one on the back of the changer, and the one on the back of the Command. You will need to keep track of which is the input and output, and when you are done you will have one plug end and one fiber lead in your hand.

Now a 2007 E350 4matic
Fiber optic coupler
There is a MB coupler that you can insert if you're not comfortable taking apart the cables. I think it's Mercedes Benz Fiber Optic Bypass Coupler
Part Number 000-545-33-84
I have the euro command and have no problems playing the mp3's in either the head unit or the 6 cd changer. No problems with the Navigation either.
You just lose the Sat Radio button, but gain a Video button. In this state, it's only legal to have video when the vehicle is stopped.
