Well,
The land-yacht (R500) has made it's way across country and now sits in my driveway. Couple of knee jerk reactions:
Enjoy the pics
The land-yacht (R500) has made it's way across country and now sits in my driveway. Couple of knee jerk reactions:
- Might possibly be the smoothest ride I've ever felt.
- Mercecdes-Benz has finally got the 7G tranny right. This thing shifts like butter in both sport and comfort modes
- I think I hear a pano-roof rattle
- I'm gonna definately have to lower it and slap some wheels on it
- It's faster than a C230K -- ask me how I know. Poor kid
- Alcantara seats are the bomb, baby!
Enjoy the pics

a Stupid Question
Is "Alcantara" a Man made "Suede Product"? Or is it Suede Leather? Is it "grabby" on your butt as you get into & swivel into position & close the door? or does it let you move in the seat easilly?

Yep it's suede. Not sure of it's origin though. But yeah, it's kinda grabby, I guess. It's definately not slick. But as you go around corners it keeps you planted in the seat better than leather. And since dynamic seats are no longer an option, this is the next best thing. Oh, I think it's whole claim to fame is that it doesn't get too cold in the winter and doesn't get too hot in the summer.

DUDE!!! That looks cool. Where did you get it from? Why not local? I hope you got a slamming deal, then? Any kids? Does it have Airmatic? If so, you can Jangy drop it. If not, buy new springs.
The 500 is sweet. I've riden in lots of new 7g cars and they are all feeling better to me. Glad you like that minivan!! I tried to get my wife to do it, but she still wants the damn range rover.
The Pano roof is sweet in that ride. i hate it in the sedans, but I think even i'd get it in the SUVs.

Alcantra is a man-made suede-like material. No animals died to make it and it lasts longer with less maintenance.

Yeah man, you know it's got the airmatic! I'll have it lowered soon enough. I got it from a dealer in San Ramos, CA. It was a manufacturer's demo with 3900 miles on it. Stickered for just under 67K and I beat him down until he gave in at 43K. To get it shipped was 900.00 and that was with a free upgrade to an enclosed trailer. I think I did pretty well on this thing. I paid what people are paying for 350's....so I feel pretty good about it.
Shhhhh, don't tell my wife it's a mini-van. She's calling it a truck
