E550 Finally here

Finally got my ride yesterday. Love it Love it Love it!

Was a little sad that it was raining and unable to get out and truly enjoy it, but today is nice and shiny. Pics to follow soon.

My only complaint so far - Not very many nooks and crannies to store stuff compared to my 99. Took awhile to sort stuff. The owners manual could be reduced by a few thousand pages if the lawyer stuff is taken out, although that will only get worse over time.

07 E550
Obsidion Black, Black Interior
P2, Sport, Wood Steering Wheel, Side Window Blinds, Voice, Bluetooth, Ipod (on order)
Adding Tinting, K40 Thursday

Thanks to everyone who helped on the forum.

congrats and you are right about the lack of storage. the glove box takes up the entire volumn of the tech manuals. the center box is too shallow for storing the cd cases and boy, those cupholders are a joke!!!!

otherwise the car rides and drives very nice

Nice...all that V8 POWER!

How have you found the air suspension? I hear they revised it a bit for the facelift.

Leave the Manuals and the leather pouch in the house. Mine were never in the car since the 1st drive home. Too much crap to drag around for no reason.

...and you mean the revised console/cup holders still are poor cup holders?

Seems to work great. You can really tell the difference in the roll of the car around a curve. Comfort is a very pronounced roll, more so than my 99 E430. Sport1 and Sport2, the roll is DRAMATICALLY reduced. The ride of the car greatly changes from C to S1/S2, as would be expected.

I still have not had a chance to see what the differences between Sport 1/Sport 2 really do.

I noticed in the owners manual, I had a warranty book for Michelin's. Not that I would mind at all, but the car has Continentals. Are there E's out their with Michelin's?? Are they one in the same now? No big deal, just curious.

Wrong warranty book in your glove box. Yes there are Michelins out there. BUT, when I went to the Michelin web site to see what they offer for the 550 with sport & staggered set up there wasn't a hit, while there was one when I inquired about the non sport/non staggered equipped cars. So, who knows.

I keep my manual in the trunk, under the floor board - in between the spare and board

Clarification: The 4Matic does not have staggered wheels/tire, only the RWD.

Thanks for the tip. Good place to keep it and make availiable the cavernous glove box for all sorts of things.

Barry - very good things come to those who wait.

You can break the tires loose for several seconds coming out of a McDonalds turning into traffic..must be the grease in the parking lot.

The dealer I bought my E350 from had two of the exact same cars (same colors and options even). The one I bought is equipped with the Michelins, while the other one had Continental tires. Mercedes alternates between them, but I'm not sure on what basis.

If I'm not mistaken these are the tires on my car... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....=Pilot+HX+MXM4

Note that Tire Rack does not carry the correct rear size, however many E55 guys say that the 275/35/18 is a better size for the rear, since it better matches the diameter of the front tires (245/40/18).

I was able to get my contis swapped for michelins by the dealership, as at the time (03) they were supposed to come with the michelins. might want to check into this if you prefer the other tires (I certainly did).

I'll ride the Continentals, but will definately go with Michelines when they are replaced.

Good choice! E550's are great, especially in black.
