I am seriously thinking about dumping my 2004 Audi A4 and buying a 2007 E350.

My one reservation about buying the E350 is that I live in snow country and Mercedes' rust warranty is ony four (4) years compared to Audi, BMW's and Porsche's twelve (12!) year rust warranties.

This leads to several questions:

1) Does anyone know wheter Mercedes uses the same technology to rust prook their carrs as Audi, BMW and Porsche or not?

2) Why is Mercedes rust warranty so short compared to their competitors?

3) For readers in the "rust belt" what has been your experience in how long it takes recent model year Mercedes to rust if driven in winter?

1. mercedes has much more advanced paint and rust technology than any of its competitors. all the panels have anywhere from 3 to 4 layers of protection. the whole body is zinc coated and baked on. The paint contains ceramic particles that are sprayed on with nanotechnology, making it more difficult to chip, rust, scratch.

As long as your properly clean and maintain your vehicle it should not rust at all.

and keep in mind that the hood, front fenders, and trunk lid are aluminum.

Rust is a non-issue on a Mercedes. If washed and waxed it won't rust for about 20 years, if then.
