p.s. when i worked in the dealing with retail business when there's room for price negation, i always felt it was unfair that often times the jerks actually get better prices than the nice people. just my $.02.
There are many reasons why some people get better pricing than others, some are dealer's status at the time, negotiating ability of both parties, quantity of cars purchased by the buyer and attitude of the buyer. Quite frankly I would pay a few dollars more at the dealer I do business with as they really take good care of me and provide services that I appreciate, They are also very nice and cooperative. Market conditions also play a role. Also do not believe all the price info you hear about on these forums...if its too good to be true it isn't!! As for the "jerk" remark, I have found the opposite on both sides of the selling equasion that nice people get the best deals.

Wow this thread went really deep.... Actually I have the utmost amt of respect for my sales person & did have them re-run the figures again. I am paying more due to the fact that the car was originally shipped to another dealership before we requested the transfer here to Kansas City. After having seen some of these payments others were paying for their cars I naturally was confused as to why my pmt was so much higher. I'm sure I could have negotiated a better deal had I taken a car currently on the lot. As for my stealership comment.... it's still fun to say . I'm a realtor & many people think we make tons of commission on each property. NOT true!!! I'm also wondering if some of the added options on a car don't residualize out. None-the-less, they still made out like a bandit on the car. But as mentioned earlier, the service at this dealership is first-class overall otherwise I'm sure I would have walked. Don't get me wrong, I'd loved to have had the deal some of you had gotten. Just not any competition here in Kansas City as Aristocrat Motors just bought the other local dealership.

That same day we bought our ML500 off the lot (CPO) with 2 others looking at it that day. Hood was open when we got there. He searched their extensive inventory (500+ new & used) as well as searched the MB system to find a car configured as we wanted, but none were found, so we left him with the list. He told us he'd get a car slated for production and change it to our specs. If we liked it when it came in it was ours, but no obligation. I think he was confident in our position, as we came referred to him and we came in with a printout of exactly the options and colors we wanted. Probably figured worst case it wasn't pink and purple and they could sell it. They do a large volume in our area. Does 1K over invoice seem reasonable on both sides, especially since we'll be adding some dealer installed items? As much as I want a great deal, I understand they are in business to make money and they don't need to give the cars away. Sales person was fantastic and the dealership seems great as well. Thanks for the feedback.
