Overactive ESP? Is this even normal?

I know the ESP on the 211 is very restrictive, but my car seems to be going overboard. This morning I resetted the ecu just to see if it'll do anything (made no difference, since I drive hard all the time anyway). While on the freeway (mild traffic) from a 40mph 2nd gear punch, the ESP light flicked on and KEPT blinking all the way to 3rd gear, Mind you, the car does not have the power to spin its tires. It just bogged all through the gear with that stupid triangle in a frenzy.

I tried the same thing again about 15 miles later (non-stop driving), and it did the exact same thing. It makes 2nd gear feel like 3rd, and this isn't exactly confidence inspiring when trying to pull a fast one.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, stock sizes. 490 miles on the clock so uneven wear between front and back isn't an issue either.
