Settings to NOT display odometer?

Hello everyone

I have a 2006 E350 Avantgarde. Is there a way to NOT display the total mileage (Kilometreage?).

I would prefer others not to see the total miles.

*Bump*

Surely someone out there knows what I mean?

At the bottom of the display where you see [D 1234 S] - I would like to show the trip miles (kilometers) instead of the total. (or blank it out).

There must be a setting somewhere?

Not possible on W211.

Not certain if this is what you’re looking for:

Press and release the reset button once. This button will allow you to switch back and forth between mileage which cannot be altered and trip mileage. When trip mileage is displayed, press and hold the reset button until it resets to zero. This will allow you to display only the trip mileage and it can be repeatedly zeroed.

Thanks konigstiger, but that doesn't seem to work on my car. (That's exactly what used to happen on my Jeep Grand Cherokee though). I've also looked through all the menu options and cannot find anything.

Your Kidding! Really? Geez, I thought you had to scroll to the trip computer to see trip milage.

For mileage application(s) normally one would use the method suggested. HOWEVER, if it’s “milage” you want well then yes you need to activate the on board trip computer by way of DAS. Then when scrolled to in the MFD you will; be able to read the trip milage.

Well a lot of people have "strange" questions.

Simply put, I do not like my total mileage being displayed whenever the door is opened. I want to either display the trip mileage - or nothing at all.

I don't see why that should not be possible to do.

And if it worked like that on previous models, why was it changed?

A lot of things changed from the previous model (W210) , such as the ability to change the radio station from the steering wheel to the next preset. The answer to why change is something a lot of people have asked.

Oh I see, thought you were looking to display trip mileage while operating vehicle. Thanks for clarifying. Have you spoken to your dealer, specifically a shop foreman? I understand when MBUSA dealers order a new instrument cluster (IC) they have the ability to program the mileage. No guarantee (in fact a long shot) but possibly they can alter the display characteristics of your IC through Star Diagnosis - DAS.
