The smiles on people's faces is payment enough.

Plus 10% cash.

Well,

I have the parts list and install document for a 2005. I believe it's the same for 2006. Check the last page for part#'s needed. And keep in mind that the voice control is completely optional. And you'll still need the newer bluetooth puck. Call Jaime at oempartsdirect.com for verification of part#'s.

news for 2005/2006 guys ... it will cost 1300+ to do this mod! AGH!!

Part number Cost Description
q6820965 $752.70 MHI processor unit and voice command package
q6820955 $608.40 MHI processor unit only (if you dont want VC)
q6820950 $297.96 Completor Kit (is this needed?)
q67875878 $327.76 Bluetooth adapter from AWS

Hopefully the completor kit is only the antenna booster that I will obviously NOT need. If so I'm looking at $936.16 for the cheapest parts package. If I DO need the completor kit then it will be $1234.12 for parts. Plus about $50 to activate it at the dealer.

Anyone know if I need the completor kit?

i think for me its:

command package
q6820955 $608.40 MHI processor unit only (if you dont want VC)

q67875878 $327.76 Bluetooth adapter from AWS

since i already have the voice command installed by steve...
not sure what the rest of that complete kit is either..hope i wont need it

what is the pse module im pretty sure i need as well?

still close to 1k for this..im not sure if the 25% discount still applies...i thought it was for 30 days only from when this thread began in march

Good luck. That was a timely sale by the guy who you purchased the kit from, huh?

I think you'll be the first one to retrofit a 2005+ W211. Other than the people that do this for a living.

Looks like the seller actually did it himself as well as a few others on the board. Directions are straight forward.

I got it installed! The voice command isnt much of anything though. Those of you who don't have it aren't missing much.

I was able to install the ENTIRE kit in under 2 hrs. Get this, it was acting quirky at first so I decided to unplug the bluetooth adapter. Then replugged and repaired with my moto Q and it worked flawlessly. No dealer version coding necessary!!!!!!

In total it cost me a few days of searching out some parts and about 950 dollars to do this mod. I did get lucky that Jeff was selling his parts though. It was going to cost me about 1500 in parts from mercedes of ft lauterdale. Which is where I got my updated version of the bluetooth puck for $318 + 30 for over night shipping.

Anyway, I LOVE it. I've fallen in love with my car all over again. The only feature that does not work is sms ... somewhat dissapointing but you can't win em all!

YAHTZEE!

Add another to the growing list!

Well done. So maybe the 2005+ cars don't need to visit the dealer?

Who knows! It was VERY easy ... One thing to note is that dealers are VERY shady. I had one guy quote me a price for the bt adapter. He stated it would be $408 and would not touch the online dealer prices. When I couldn't find one in stock I called back and the next guy said $476. Me: WTF? him: well the real price is $420 and thats what I am willing to sell it for.

That pisses me off! I showed them! I told them to hold it for me and then I ordered it from Ft lauderdale for 318 ... and the overnight shipping was just as much as the 6.5% sales tax would have been!

Chris-

Glad to see you're happy with everything. I am a bit surprised you don't care for the voice control. I relied on it for 85-90% of my calls by taking the time to store voice tags for the people I call most. And for all the times that a first call doesn't go through, I really appreciated just speaking "redial" to try again. BTW - in my rush to package everything up, I forgot to send the Voice Control System Operation Guide. It'll go out Monday.

My '07 doesn't have VC, but I still find myself reaching my fingertips out to pull the VC lever. Then I find myself fumbling through the steering wheel buttons or COMAND trying to remember how to dial a call. I'm sure I'll get used to it quickly.

BTW - before I sold all the parts, I tore into my '07 thinking I'd try to add the VCS from my '05. Not possible in my case because neither the VCS power cable nor VCS mic harness were installed. My dealer cautioned me ahead of time saying that for '07, VCS is only a factory option and that dealer installation was no longer available. Can it be done? Probably if I would have searched out the harnesses and was willing to tear my entire car apart to accomplish it... I'll live without it for 27 months.

ENJOY CHRIS!!

AHA! You have to store voice tags! LOL ... I didnt know that! I was like, why wont it dial a name???!! Now that I know this I will probably use it more.

The reason I say it was sort of a dissapointment is because of the lack of navigation control with it. My last vehicle was a 2004 acura TL. It didn't ride as nice but it came with all of this standard. I could say things like "find nearest <insert whatever>" possibilities included <insert type> restaurant, gas station, atm, bank, shopping etc etc etc

I still like it though. Also, is it normal for the phone system to stay on? I'd disconnect from the system when exiting the car and the phone and car would continue to "re-pair" and transfer my call back to the car. Even after it was locked? Is that going to be a problem with my battery?
