Question Trunk brackets and liner for navigation console

I just bought a navigation console for the trunk on ebay. I went to the dealership to buy the bracket and the trunk panel and they said they do not have an installation kit for an '03. According to the parts department at the dealership, the only way to get the trunk panel and the bracket is to buy the '04 navigation installation kit, which already comes with the console (valued at $1500 ). Does anybody know if there is a way to just the buy the bracket and the panel? I would appreciate any information regarding this matter.

I love how the dealership told me that I couldn't upgrade the head unit or install nav when I bought this car. They gave me some BS about wiring, incompatibility, etc. even though my car is prewired for nav. I guess it was for the best. I have already spent about $1200 for both my Euro COMAND, nav and dvd when the dealership asked for about $4000 on parts alone.

For the brackets needed to mount your drive:
1 Base bracket A211 545 54 40
1 Processor bracket A211 545 63 40
1 Screw N 910 105 006 023
1 Nut N 910 112 006 003

There are different versions of the trunk liner, they depend on:
fold down seat, Color of the trunk interior, and if a cigarette lighter outlet is in the trunk
give MBdoctor a call or Jamie at OEMpartsdirect.com - they may be able to help you.
GL with the install

I did not feel the need to spend 4-500 on the panel and bracket, so I mounted the DVD player to the bottom of the rear deck with a ISO-DIN sleeve left over from a head unit. It is out of the way and you can barely see it. Good enough for me.

where did you get a price of 4-500 for a liner and bracket? The liner is absolutely not necessary as the factory one can be cut. The cover hides the drive. The bracket and gps splitter are the only parts you will need.

Alrite, I did exagerate a bit , but I was quoted around $250 for them, beats cutting the existing panel, plus I don't mind my location and can't beat the cost: $0

Cheers

I never carry stuff in my car. Really. No Really, that is what the Sienna is for when the wife lets me borrow it

The cables reached just fine, there is actually room above the panel to route the cables through.

Cheers

Thanks so much for you help. If it's possible and if there's room, I was thinking of mounting the console inside next to the fuse box (towards the inside of the trunk). Recommended? or not recommended? I figured I could save money on the trunk panel since it's probably going to be shipped and it gives me a little more space in the trunk (not much). I know the drive will be inaccessible and will be hard to switch out the DVD, but I don't plan to drive to Mexico or even Canada. Let me know if this would be a good idea.

Where would be a good place to buy the brackets? I searched online and I could not find the parts from any of the MB parts stores. Tried parts department from the dealership...useless.

would still suggest you get a set of factory brackets to hold the drive for a few reason.

1. it's out of the way and not prone to damage if you do have to carry something.

2. it looks better and it's the appropriate location for it behind the liner

3. less chance of trunk hinge hooking the cables and ripping them out or perhaps breaking a fiber lead.

Part numbers for the bracket are :
211-545-7940 upper
211-545-6340 lower

Thanks for the info. I was given different part numbers for the nav brackets:

1 Base bracket A211 545 54 40
1 Processor bracket A211 545 63 40
1 Screw N 910 105 006 023
1 Nut N 910 112 006 003

Do I need any of these parts?
