Gas gauge broken? or am I not putting enough gas in?

For the last 2 months, I have been unable to fill my gas tank up to full no matter how many times I top off (which you shouldn't do). The top tick on my gas gauge has not lit up despite my efforts now that I have noticed it. Is this a gas gauge problem or a gas tank problem?

Neither. That top light doesn't turn dark. It always stays that way.

I've always wondered why MB never had the top portion light up. Go figure

I always thought it did. I guess I didn't really notice it until now. Oh well, thanks for the info.

You can overfill & foul some emissions stuff related to the charcoal filter, I believe.

The pumps advise against overfilling since whatever splashes out ends up on the road, eating the asphalt & not being available for other drivers to burn.
