Hardwire radar detector in '06 E350
I plan to hardwire my radar detector in an E350. In my SLK, it was easy to remove the interior trim over the Homelink and tap the switched hot wire. I am not sure about the best approach in the E350. I do not want to remove the headliner and am looking for the best approach. Suggestions??

I tapped into the lighter socket for my GPS and phone. But, if I did it again I would get one of the piggyback fuses and tap into the lighter fuse position under the hood on the driver side. On my 2005 E500, there are two fuses that can be moved to toggle between ignition switched and constant power. One of these fuses is for the lighter circuit in the ashtray. I think it is position 53 or 55. It will be obvious once you open up the fuse box. These are the only "two position" fuse locations. The only problem with this location is that you need to figure out a route through the firewall to bring the power cable into the passenger cabin.

There is plenty of room in the fuse box for this Add-a-Circuit product. Only problem is to find a convenient path to route a power cable through the firewall.
I tried finding an ignition switched circuit in the dashboard fuse box, but, all of the open postions were constant power. It's easy to add a new fuse holding module to to the dashboard fuse box and only costs about $2.00.
I posted some photos of that but I can remember on which forum.
