Protecting my baby

I just wanted to pass along a good product that I located on the web and am using. Like many of us I love my baby, a 2007 E350 4Matic. I also love to snowboard and surf., and was worried about getting door dings as evident on my old automobile. It seemed to be commonplace that when I parked in the ski lot or worse among the other cars at the beach (surfers change at their cars between the open car doors) I would come back to a dreadful door ding or scuff. It seems to be the norm that someone will eventually ding your door (hopefully by accident, but it still hurts). Well I came across a door protector product called Doordefender out of Canada. It attaches to the door with powerful magnets and has a cable to prevent their theft. You attach these door bumpers after you park the car and secure the theft cable in the space between the doors. I was worried about scratching the paint but they appear not to cause damage. I do keep the benz clean though which probably helps. So far I have used these at the mountains, beach and airport long term parking lot and have not received a ding yet.

I would like to get a car cover that I could use at the airport. Can anyone recommend a cover? There are so many on the market, made of all sorts of materials. Back in the day, I used Evolution fabricate covers for my classis cars. I have been out of the car field for some time and would appreciate any advice or experience people have had with car covers. Covering the car will help keep the sun and seagull deposits from damaging the paint as well as offer some general protection from luggage etc.

Noah vs Evolution fabrics

I have done some research both here and on the general web. It seems that the fabrics of choice are Noah or Evolution. The Evolution provides a little more ding protection due to its increased thickness but you loose on compresability / packing it. Also, it seems that Covercraft is the popular choice for a manufacturer. Any advice?
