Speaking of keys....
As I posted earlier. I bought my car off lease. It had no manual, mats, and one key. It was only the smart key. My car would not unlock when I got home today, but after pushing the button a few times, walking away from the car and trying again it opened. At first I thought the car's battery had died, or the key's battery. I don't have the regular key for the car. How hard will it be to get a new one. Just get it at my next service, or do I need to order it? Because, I realized today a dead battery in either, I'm screwed.

Do a search for keys. Just last week it was discussed and basically you need to show proof you own the car, vin, and your id. It must be ordered.
If the battery in the car dies and you need to open the door you slide the little lever in the back of the key and pull the little metal thingie to reveal a real key. This will open only the Drivers door, or trunk, (and glove box should you want to lock and unlock it) to allow you to jump the battery.

Mercedes E350, E550s on it's way!
Replaceing the battery in your key thob might be a good idea, it sounds to me like your battery may be deador dieing.
To do this pull the spring back and remove your standard metal key. Taking the unit look into the top and spot the grey little block, take your metal key and pushing this grey object inward, not downward will release the top of the unit from the rest of the key thob. There you'll find the battery and just change it out.
Hopefully thats enough detail and maybe helps you out a little

And as a warning, using the metal key to unlock the door sets off the alarm. I was messing around in the garage once and set it off. If you think it's loud outside, try it in an enclosed space
